Professional Dog Training

Do you have a new puppy in your household or need help with some basic manners, experiencing some undesireable behaviors with your dog, looking to compete with your dog or interested in Therapy Dog Visits?  We can help! 

 

Laurie has 40+ years of experience in working with people and their dogs and would love to help you as well.  She is an accomplished trainer and competitor in Obedience, Rally, Agility, Search and Rescue and Therapy Dogs.  She enjoys working with the special needs dogs and uses only positive re-enforcement training methods.  She is a certified Therapy Dog International Evaluator, AKC CGC Examiner and Certified Canine Fitness Trainer.


 Family Dog Center offers a variety of training options:

Private lessons, Group lessons, Board and Train, Day-Drop Off Trains, and Manner Enhancements while participating in our boarding or daycare.

Sign up in April for Board & Train and receive one free obedience class after completion of their Board & Train session with us!

We offer a great solution for you if you do not have the time to train your dog or are needing help with basic training or behavioral issues.


Our board and train is just that—You drop your dog off with us for a minimum of 2 weeks and we will work with your dog to help you reach your training goal. We will meet with you for an individual consultation and then devise the training program specifically to your dog’s needs.



You provide your dog, food, and any special items for them to enjoy in their suites and we will do the work for you. Once your dog has successfully completed his basic training with us, you will be involved in the training and learn how to continue with the training at home.

Included with the board and train program is a minimum of 2 trainings sessions after your dog is released from the training program to review progress and make any necessary adjustments in training and address any questions or concerns that arise.

Obedience Puppy to Competition

Puppy Preschool--4 Week class designed for puppies 8-16 weeks at start of class.  This class is designed around socialization skills as well as basic puppy manners.  Your pup will learn through positive reinforcement with fun activities and games,

Puppy Kindergarten--4 week class designed for puppies 4-11 months of age.   We will address common puppy  behaviors and focus on basic manners. 

Beginner Obedience--4 Week Class for dogs 12 months and up.  Basic manners and obedience skills will be introduced to help your dog become a well behaved member of your family.  This class is not for reactive or aggressive dogs.

Advanced Obedience-4 Week Class designed for those dogs who have successfully completed a beginner obedience class.  The course will challenge each participant as many times as you enroll, as it is designed around current students and their needs.  We will build on your already learned skills as well as learn many new ones. 

Rally (dog sport) and Competition Obedience- These classes meets for 6 weeks consecutively preparing for the competition ring or just for fun.

Puppy Camp 1

Puppy camp is designed for puppies up to 20 weeks at start of camp. Your puppy will come for 4 consecutive weeks to learn basic manners and socialization skills. This is an excellent way to get your pup off to a good start.   A detailed report card will be given at the end of each session. Please check for scheduled dates.

Puppy Camp 2

This camp is a 4 week session for puppies from 5 months to 11 months at start of camp. Your puppy will work on basic manners both new and enhance some already learned ones. They will also be introduced to some fitness equipment and be involved in our daycare program throughout their day with us. You will receive a nice detailed progress report upon pick up each week. Please see schedule for dates.

Group Classes Not For You-Check out your other options

  • INDIVIDUAL LESSONS

    are tailored to you and your dog's unique needs, whether for basic manners, behavior modification, preparing for the competition ring, fitness or help with any other behavioral issues you may be experiencing.

  • BOARD & TRAIN

    If you have a  busy schedules without enough time time to train at home or to attend weekly training classes, you may want to consider our Board and Train Program.   We will train your dog for you!



    You will meet for a personal consult with our head trainer to discuss and assess your needs.  Upon completion,  we devise a training plan tailored to your dog's specific needs and situation.  We will train and practice through positive training methods (toys, treats, play etc) in our facility as well as real life settings to improve or create a sound foundation of your dog's training.  Corrections are used as needed for inappropriate behavior but are not the foundation of our training




    We require a 2 week minimum for their stay.  We will discuss length of time projected upon completion of consult.  While here, they will enjoy our Doggie hotel and daycare facility and programs.  All you need to do is bring proof of current vaccination, food and 50% down payment  upon drop off.

  • SAME DAY DROP-OFF TRAINING

    Drop your dog off for the day to be trained on basic manners, obedience skills, socialization, pulling on leash, anxiety or any issue you are experiencing with your dog. 


    An initial consult is a pre-requisite as well as proof of current vaccinations.

  • PUPPY CAMP (4 WEEK)

    This 4 week camp is designed for puppies 8-16 weeks at start of camp.  The foundation of the camp is socialization and basic manner skills.  Your dog will be with us 4 consecutive Tuesdays from 9-3 with a fun filled day of Train, Play, Sleep and Repeat.  This will be a break from puppy rearing for you for a full day!

Paws For Fitness

Join Laurie (C and learn how to make fitness fun for your best friend.  Dogs that are more fit will be happier, healthier and live longer. 

You will learn safe and healthy exercises while using fitness equipment as well as stationary exercises.  Your dog's overall health, focus, and confidence will be improved through spending fun and quality time with your dog on fitness.

We offer group classes as well as individual sessions.  You may also rent the equipment and space to work on your own schedule.  Reservations are needed and dog's must have passed the initial class with safe introduction to Fitness and Equipment.

Paws For Fitness

This 6-week class is for those handlers preparing for novice and on up in both obedience and rally competitions.
